Abstract
The fetal arterial blood flow velocity wave forms from umbilical artery and descending aorta were obtained from 53 cases of normal pregnancies and 16 cases of pregnancies with pregnancy-induced hypertension with equipment of pulsed doppler ultrasound, and then the peak systolic blood flow versus end-diastolic blood flow ratios(S/D ratio) of these vessels were analysed.

The following. results were obtained

1. The mean S/D ratio of umbilical arterial blood flow velocity in 10 cases of pregnancies with pregnancy induced hypertension and 6 cases of pregnancies with pregnancy induced hypertension accompanying intrauterine growth retardtion were significantly higher than that in 30 cases of normal pregnancies after 36 weeks¢¥ gestation. (2.47¡¾0.29 in normal versus 2.83¡¾0.28 in pregnancy-induced hypertension, p<0.05, 3.050.13 pregnancy induced hypertension with intrauterine growth retardation, p<0.005)

2. The mean S/D ratio of umbilical artery in pregnancies with prenancy-induced hypertension accompanying intrauterine growth retardation was significantly higher than that of the same artery in the rest of pregnancy-induced hypertension pregnancies (3. 05¡¾0.13 versus 2.83¡¾0.28, p<0.05)

3. The mean S/D ratios of descending aorta had no significant differance in two groups.
